This afternoon as I was being driven through Seattle a car in front of us started to brake.
Except it didn't stop.
Instead it unexpectedly turned sharp left.
As the sunlight cast on the back of the car changed as the car turned, I realised that the brake light was flashing. It wasn't a brake light after all, but an indicator. It had been indistinguishable from a brake light as indicators are often red in the US.
It is confusing and potantially dangerous. It must cause accidents.
Why do Americans do car indicators like this?
