Country 54: The Vatican City:
January 2007 found me in Rome and the Vatican City. The World's smallest country by size, the Vatican City also has a population of just 1. World famous bigot, The Pope.
Essentially it is just an enormous Cathedral with a big collonaded space in front to fit enough of the devout to make the Pope feel wanted at Christmas and Easter.
As I was leaving, a Gay Rights march, chanting loudly, arrived at the boundary with the city of Rome and the Vatican.
It made my return to Italian soil all the more welcoming and has to count as one of the more inclusive border crossings I've ever experienced.
