St George in Georgia

They know how to treat a Saint with respect

When I was travelling through the Balkans a few years ago it amused me to see that Zagreb and Belgrade are host to identical statues of St George. Stark naked and writhing with a snake, the positioning and scale of the statues is identical to the one in Baku.

But Georgia idolise St George so much they named their country after him. They love him so much more than the English, that the St George cross appears not once on their flag, but five times!

So their St George is in gold

On a massive column.

On a horse

In armour.
