I travelled to Eritrea as part of a group.
Group travel comes with it's pros and it's cons.
One pro is that you get to see far more in a limited amount of time than you could organise for yourself.
One con can be the other people. And the trip to Eritrea had one such person.
Apart from the burned out vehicles and the blue domed houses of faith, the Eritrean countryside is also rich in two things: Aloe Vera plants and cacti.
When we concluded the first day of travel from Asmara to Keren without stopping for an explicit cactus photo opportunity this one member of the group had a fit. Shouting at our Tour Guide and demanding a specific stop the next day.
Anyone would have thought we hadn't passed 50,000,000 of the blasted things!
