Monday is market day in Keren.
90% of Eritrea was once covered in woodland but it is now an almost completely de-forested country.
A UN planting operation is trying to re-forest the country. It is now unlawful to cut down new wood.
Scavenged wood is therefore a prized commodity and wind fall and damaged branches are collected, bundled and sold in markets such as this one in Keren.
