A newsagent masquerading as a country

Country 56: San Marino

San Marino is a pleasant little hilltop town with commanding views over the surrounding plain down to Rimini and the Adriatic.

A quirk of history has left it as an independent country replete with all the hall marks of modern statehood... International recognition, a place in the United Nations and several dodgy Eurovision entries under it's belt.

Plenty of restaurants exist to provide you with rather pleasant pizza.

Lot's of souvenir shops are on hand to meet all your tourist tat needs.

And many many many many many duty free tobacconists have set up shop to furnish Central Eastern Italy with tax free cigarettes.
